Mailgun Inbox Placement and Warmup Results

Ensuring password reset and verification requests land in the inbox is a challenge. There's also a lot of opinions around whether to warm up and dedicated IP or use a shared one. We tried a dedicated IP with a few thousand reminder / verification emails a day, almost zero unsubscribe and bounce rate but members reported they weren't getting our emails. This only applied to outlook and hotmail. A nice tool Mailgun has is inbox placement tests (and automatic ip warmup which is awesome) which we ran. Here are the results:

When using a dedicated IP that was being warmed up:

When using a shared IP:

For us it seems our volume was not large enough to kick in past the outlook and hotmail filters (despite gmail and every other provider not having issues). Try both dedicated and shared - a lot of this will be manual monitoring on your own. The best way to test your deliverability is to use mailguns dedicated ip warmup in addition to deliverability reports.
